Fuente De Piedra Lagoon in Spain

Spain is one country that is made up of every kind of natural feature as well as manmade features all of which add to its popularity among tourists and all kinds of holidaymakers. It is a country which has something for everyone regardless of the kind of holiday the individual is looking for. Spain is quite huge composed of numerous regions and they all have interesting features thereby making suitable areas for holidays and tours.

The major attractions in Spain include the numerous beaches on the many islands, monuments of great architectural works as well as museums, parks among others. Most people also come into the country to identify with the rich culture and history which is well preserved on and in the many monuments and areas in the different regions, cities, towns and even villages. You will always find something interesting in every corner of the country. It also has nature reserves which are treasured.

The Fuente De Peidra lagoon is one such nature reserve. This wetland is situated in Malaga province in Spain and here you will find hundreds of pink flamingos. The flamingos have their reproduction cycle made possible by the lagoon and thereby you will find them in huge colonies. The birds are quite delicate and beautiful adding to the attraction of the huge lagoon. The area is just great for those beautiful photos to remember.

This lagoon is generally salty as a result of underwater springs feeding it. These springs have to pass in areas with deposits of mineral salt thus leaving the water here saline. There actually used to be salt harvesting but the activity has recently stopped. The huge elliptical shaped lagoon occupies a whole 13 kilometers and has remained quite an interesting feature in Malaga. However, even with the enormous size, the waters are shallow which can be attributed to evaporation.

The flamingos rely on the water levels of the lagoon to breed and in case it dries, they will be forced to relocate. Luckily this has never happened and since it is now a nature reserve in Spain, it is hoped that the breeding will continue for the beautiful birds. The birds are the major attractions of the lagoon and you will find many visitors here enjoying the beautiful scene. It is a lagoon that is definitely worth checking out while in Spain and even taking those beautiful photos to remember for the longest time.

Get more information on http://locationvillaespagne.com/espagne/ and plan your holiday in location vacances en espagne.

Las Medulas Nature Reserve Spain

Spain has many nature reserves which act as attractions for tourists. One of the nature reserves you will find in the country is Las Medulas. This was a very crucial gold mine within the Roman Empire and it is around Pontferrada town which borders Spain with Portugal. Gold mining in Las Medulas started as early as 1st century and the Romans here used the technique of hydraulic mining to achieve their treasure.

The mining continued for two centuries after which the same Romans departed leaving the landscape here in a devastating shape. A lot has however changed on the land over the centuries and it is now quite impressive and an attraction that has made it to UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites. Even to date, mining operations are still ongoing in Las Medulas especially on the slopes which are not forested made up of reddish orange steep rock bits.

Las Medulas has several villages within it but unfortunately they are some of the poorest in all of Spain even though this area used to be a gold mine. It is like time suddenly stopped for the villagers as soon as the Romans left. The buildings here are dilapidated and abandoned as most people especially the young left Las Medulas villages for the bigger cities in the country. It is however still a great treasure as far as the history of Spain is concerned.

After being declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Las Medulas has started receiving tourists and the locals here are quite generous and even offer cheeses, liqueur and wine and other domestic products to their visitors. It is expected that Las Medulas could slowly rise from its ashes and become a hot spot especially for tourists as the nature reserve still is quite impressive and attractive.

When visiting Spain, it is always worth checking out Las Medulas for a stopover since it does not have much to offer but still has a rich history to it and it is always a pleasure to learn a few things about it. It is one of Spain’s many reserves and its does attracts a good number of tourists which is why it is expected that things here might change for the better. It is a part whose history is still well preserved just as is the way of life for the locals here who seem to have been passed by.

If you are looking for a luxurious villa for holidays click here and Get more information on locations villa en espagne.

It is an extraordinary and amazing engineering feat that has had hundreds of visitors coming here from all over the world. Raised back in 1st century by the Romans, the most impressive part of the aqueduct is that no mortar was used in holding it together. It is basically a granite block forming a bridge and it is composed of arches numbering hundreds. This block stands at 728 meters making it the more remarkable relating to the architecture used in putting it together.

This impressive aqueduct once formed part of aqueducts system that was complex together with underground canals that were used in bringing water to the region from the Segovia mountainous region. It is a system that stretched over 15 kilometers and it even reached to where Alcazar is nowadays. The highest point of the systems was at Plaza del Azoguenjo standing at 28m. It is definitely a wonderful site to behold here and you will find lots of visitors here enjoying the beauty that is the aqueduct.

There is a story that is behind the aqueduct even though most people believe that the Romans put it up. The local legend suggests that back in time there was a young girl who would travel far to fetch water and getting tired of the activity, she voice the willingness to surrender her young soul to devil if only there could be an easier solution to the water problem. The legend goes on to assert that the devil immediately started working on the bridge at night but the girl recanted the wish and asked forgiveness from God who in turn heard her and brought the sun up earlier catching unawares the devil as he put in the last stone to see to the completion of the structure.

The Segovia aqueduct is one of the most impressive structures you cannot miss out on and the heartwarming legend will keep you wondering what to believe thus adding that spicy twist to the time and experience you gather from here.

If you are looking for a luxurious villa for holidays Web Site and Get more information on Villas in Benijofar.

It has the official name Catedral de Santa Cruz Sobre El Mar translated into The Holy Cross over the Sea. However the locals refer to the cathedral as New Cathedral since there is also an Old Cathedral that was out up by Alfonso X. This yellow domed cathedral is quite impressive and it is situated in Plaza de la Catedral. You can literary spot it from every section of the city making it one of the features that is hard to miss while here.

The most amazing thing about the cathedral is that it combines different styles of architecture thus coming up with a building that is full of interesting contrast. The design was originally Baroque featuring vaults which have neoclassical elements joining it to the Torre de Poniente tower and the façade and a dome that was Juan Daura’s work. The touch is simply unbelievably impressive and is the main highlight of the cathedral. The interior has stone and marble grand crypt which shelters Manuel de Falla’s tomb.
