Interesting Folklore and Fiestas in Madrid

July 4, 2012

Madrid is the capital of Spain which in itself means that it is quite developed and modern hence a lot can be expected from it. Even with all the modernity of the city, the inhabitants still refer to it as the village. This is because in most its quarters, traditions are very alive even after the villages melted into the city life. There are many events that you will find interesting in the city during the year and what you experience will depend on the time at which you are within the city for your holiday.

People in their numbers flock in Puerta del Sol and rock the night away and when the clock strikes midnight, each tries to eat a total of twelve grapes as good luck for the new year. This is one event that is even watched by those who do not manage to attend and the party goes on and on till morning breaks.

Three Magi procession: the event takes place on the 5th of January. It is not only celebrated in Madrid but also in many other Spanish towns. It can also be very interesting to witness the procession.

Fiesta de San Isidro: it normally takes place on 15th May and it is a fiesta that is in honor of the Madrid patron. It involves numerous concerts and is considered to be a spectacle of all year events. It is also during this fiesta that you will have a taste of best bullfights and public performances.

Summer in the Village: this is an event which is normally organized by the town hall and which is composed of different cultural events and takes place in August and July. If you are one of the people who love learning a thing about new cultures, you will find it very interesting, location villa espagne costa brava.

Verbena de La Paloma: it is a festival which takes place on the 6th through to the 15th August. During the festival Madrid’s popular traditions are showcased as the performers are normally in regional costumes when taking part in the dances. It is quite an interesting event in the city.
