Fun at EL Puerto de Santa Maria
El Puerto de Santa Maria is
situated at Cadiz Bay spot on at Guadalete River. This spot is a
popular holiday choice for tourists who want the sun, fun and sand.
But beaches are not only the only great offerings at El Puerto de
Santa Maria; there are tantalizing gastronomy delights and local fine
wines that are bound to satisfy.
Beaches
Any
sun lover and beach lover would love the miles and miles of sandy
beaches at El Puerto de Santa Maria. One can walk on the soft sand or
boardwalks that link up to bars and restaurants. The fine and golden
sand with crystal clear waters is very impressive to all tourists;
together with the strong winds, tourists can have a whale of a time

There are many renowned beaches
in this district; one can take time to check out all of them. The
Vista Hermosa Beach or locally known as Playa del Buzo faces the
Atlantic Ocean and Cadiz city. This beach offers consistent waves
that are suitable for windsurfing. It is cooler than other beaches on
the Bay.
The La Puntilla beach has a bank protection which
makes the waters calm and safe for swimming especially for
children.
The Levante beach lies in isolation away from
urbanized Cadiz. Its secluded location at the Natural Park offers
cool green landscapes with strong breezes.

beach is one of the most visited beaches especially in the summer as
it offers many summer holiday attractions.

Muralla and La Calita are divided by the Santa Catalina Castle ruins.

the water make the place ideal for scuba diving and spear fishing.
History
There
is a legend to El Puerto de Santa Maria; it is purported founded by
king Menestheus who was involved in the Trojan War. There are
numerous palaces and monuments dating back to the 17th century and
18th century.
Some ancient monuments worthy of mention include
the San Marcos Castle which was a mosque that was rebuilt as a
